Shoulder Stabilisation & Precision in Rehabilitation

Movement professionals know how important shoulder stabilization is but the real skill comes with knowing exactly how to stabilize the shoulder in all its ranges. What are the correct and incorrect cues? when teaching a layman true movement with precision and without compensation?

Before we can understand stabilization, we need a comprehensive knowledge of all the muscles that affect the shoulder joint and the shoulder girdle. We also need to understand the relationship between the cervical spine, thoracic spine and shoulder joint (Braced triangle) Once this has been established, the instructor will then truly understand the muscles that need to be targeted for a specified condition, negative movement pattern or client.

The aim of this course is to give the instructor a deeper understanding of optimal movement of the shoulder joint. Once this is achieved, it is far easier to rehabilitate a shoulder as the instructor has a knowledgeable outlook with a strong mind body connection to their own gleno-humeral joint.

We also need to educate the clients in order for them to do everyday chores without compensating as soon as the humerus is mobile hence the stabilization needs to become involuntary.
